The Private Agent editor (Manage > Private Agents) allows users to customize Private Agent options.
The following options are available to adjust a private agent:
- Name: Defines the Private Agent name, and is listed among available Monitoring Locations.
- The Description field is optional.
Enabling Specific Type of Monitoring on Private Agent
You can set up Private Agents to perform only a specific type of monitoring. For example, monitoring in a real browser can be disabled or the number of monitoring sessions executed simultaneously from the Private Agent location can be specified to decrease server load.
BrowserView and UserView platforms: Enable to allow web page and application monitoring in real browsers. To specify the number of monitoring sessions at one time, set up the Concurrent Monitoring field.
WebView and ServerView platforms: Enable to allow monitoring of uptime and performance status of websites, servers, networks, network devices, etc.
Restricting Monitoring from Private Agent to Specific Server IPs
In the Allowed IPs section, you can specify the list of server IP addresses from which the private agent can perform monitoring. Private Agents installed on the servers with non-listed IPs will be blocked while monitoring.
Configuring Alerting
The set of alerting options allows you to configure alert notifications on Private Agent unavailability issues or degradation.
Private Agent is not accessible [X mins]
Specifies how long the system waits after detecting that the private agent is not accessible before sending an initial alert.
Failed ratio is over [X%]
Specifies the Failed Ratio limit. Once the limit is exceeded, the system will generate an alert notification. A ratio under 10% is considered acceptable.
Send Alerts to Group (optional)
Specifies a Delivery Address Group that will receive email alerts about issues with the Private Agent. Dotcom-Monitor currently supports alert notifications to Email addresses exclusively. Therefore, any other types of delivery addresses provided in the group will be disregarded.
Don’t confuse this option with device alerting.
Alert frequency
Determines how often alerts are sent when the Private Agent is in an alert state.
Downloading Private Agent Usage History
To download a usage history report for an agent in the CSV format, on the bottom of the agent settings window, click Usage Report.
