Worldwide Monitoring Shows CNN Website Down

Feb. 11, 2014 – Dotcom-Monitor is tracking a CNN website outage on Feb. 11, 2014. Testing using worldwide locations indicated an inability to connect to the CNN server and load the website.

Operated by Turner Broadcasting Corp. CNN.com is among the world’s largest and most accessed news websites. According to Wikipedia, in April 2009, CNN.com ranked third place among online global news sites in unique users in the U.S. according to Nielsen/NetRatings; with an increase of 11% over the previous year.

The CNN outage was temporary, but given the high numbers of users on CNN the downtime likely impacted millions. Dotcom-Monitor testing from multiple worldwide locations indicated the CNN website was down, or experiencing issues worldwide. Also, according to reports in social media the Feb. 11 CNN outage started at round 5:55 pm CST and lasted for nearly 24 minutes.
